Rachel, our new Occupational Therapist, recently started with Accept after moving to Adelaide from Melbourne. We're thrilled to have her join us as we expand our Allied Health department and introduce Occupational Therapy as a service offering. Find out more about Rachel and her new role at Accept below.

Tell us about your professional background

I’m an occupational therapist with broad range of skills, I’ve worked in rural and metropolitan hospitals, nursing homes and in the community in SA and VIC.

What attracted you to becoming an OT?

An OT helped my grandmother post stroke in increasing her functional goals and improving her home environment safety, and this has inspired me to help people in the same way.

How can Occupational Therapy help our clients?

Occupational Therapy can help our clients in various ways to achieve their goals, with the emphasis of improving their independence and safety. Occupational Therapists can also address client’s needs and recommend equipment and/or home modifications if required.

What is your proudest moment in your career?

When clients really appreciate your time spent to help them. To me, a simple thank you is all that is required.

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

I like bouldering (rock climbing without the ropes and harness) and playing tennis and squash. I love plants, and enjoy cooking.
