Tracey recently started at Accept Care in the role of Direct Care Supervisor. She may be new, but she brings with her a wealth of experience, and has settled into her new role naturally. Find out more about Tracey below!

Tell us a bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I have a wonderful partner, three children of my own, eight grandkids and a cat called Rosie. I love gardening, reading non-fiction books, watching documentaries and spending time with family and friends.

What was your professional background prior to working for Accept Care?

I’ve been working in aged care since 2005 and have worked in various roles including personal carer, lifestyle assistant, hotel services coordinator and workforce team leader. I started working with Southern Cross Care and was there for eight years, then moved to ACH group and worked there for almost ten years. During my time at ACH, I took a year break to travel to regional areas to provide care. I worked in places including Alice Springs, Darwin, Thursday Island and Broome and I loved it.

What inspired you to work in the aged care sector?

I wanted to work in aged care so I could help people living in aged care have a better quality of life. I wanted to make their lives more comfortable and exciting for them in their final stage of life.

What does your role entail?

I oversee the home support workers, and majority of my job is conducting buddy shifts for new staff and on-the-job assessments for existing staff. We want to make sure everyone feels confident in their roles and that we are providing the best possible service to our clients, so this is an important part of our training and development. These assessments allow us to identify any areas that may need improvement, and we provide further education where necessary. Ultimately, we want to make sure our staff feel supported and that’s what I’m here for.
